I lucked out big time—Brad just happened to be passing through my area working on other Arcimoto units, so I shot over to Roseville where he could check out my stubborn FUV that wouldn’t power on. Ended up crashing at a casino parking lot (plenty of room, plenty of lights, plenty of RV neighbors who also looked like they “just stopped in for the night”).

I was about to hit the hay when—ping!—I get a text from Brad. No knock, no call, no smoke signal… just: “I’m here.” Next thing I know, he’s swooping in like Superman with a wrench instead of a cape, already elbows-deep in my rig.

The culprit? Nothing catastrophic—just a dead 12-volt battery. Easy fix. But Brad being Brad, he didn’t stop there. Nope. He gave me the Arcimoto Owner Bootcamp:

• How to adjust the parking brake

• How to do a hard reset (aka CTRL-ALT-DELETE for your FUV)

• How to switch into Extended Travel Mode

• How to disconnect the battery when it’s parked for a while

• How to keep it topped off with a trickle charger he installed on the spot

He even ran me through what some of those mysterious error lights mean and tossed in some diagnostic tips. By the time he packed up, I felt like a rookie Arcimoto road tech myself.

Bottom line: Brad went above and beyond. He’s not only insanely knowledgeable and capable, but also just one of the friendliest guys you could hope to have wrenching on your ride. I’ll be posting these Tips & Tricks on Brad’s new site, and he promised he’ll try to film some “how-to” videos soon so we can share them too
